Belarusian law enforcers urged to resume probes into journalists' deaths

The Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) on Thursday [22 November] urged the Investigation Committee to resume the inquiries into the unsolved deaths of several Belarusian reporters.

The BAJ made the call one day before International Day to End Impunity.

The organization referred to the disappearance of cameraman Dmitriy Zavadskiy in 2000, the brutal murder of journalist Veranika Charkasava in 2004 and the mysterious deaths of journalist Vasil Hrodnikaw and Aleh Byabenin, founder of the opposition news site charter97.org.
